Real Estate 3.0
I read an article in RisMedia about how the “agent” has changed over the years. The direct quote from RisMedia was “It’s time to build a new agent….Agent 3.0″. It surprised me and then again it wasn’t all that surprising.
I’ve worked in the Real Estate industry since 1992 so I’ve seen and met many agents with different styles. This article went on to describe the changes in the agents perspectives:
Agent 1.0 in the 50,60 & 70’s….Had all the info & high pressure sales,
Agent 2.0 in the 80 & 90’s….Still the gatekeeper of information and their marketing was to “All about them”.
Then Agent 3.0 which is the new agent. This new agent is very consumer centric, interested in building long-term Real Estate relationships and concerned about all aspects of the home selling or buying process.
Which one represents most agents? Do most agents still work day-to-day as an Agent 1.0 or 2.0? I certainly hope not. This is where I’m confused because it seems so simple that Agent 3.0 is where all agents should be.
Since entering the Real Estate industry, I’ve always worked to build strong relationships with my clients. I’ve offered up information without strings attached and I truly believe people respond positively to this approach. So I guess I was ahead of my time! That’s a great feeling!
